as of late
a song about a river NEW
babysitting the cowboy
better be us all
big hearts
blush
carry on
cellophane
clementine
come around
everybody and change
feeling the sun
fingertip
getting old
ghost
gravity
i might be gone
miles from bed
nameless beautiful
old things
paper plane
plaid
popo agie
radiate
rome tomorrow
separate things
spinning me
suddenly afternoon
the sequel
too strong
turpentine
twelve month love
these days
what i feel like as winter comes
where there’s a will…
whistle stop
wyoming NEW

Babysitting the Cowboy

by tyler stenson

My memories are a series of backyard cul-de-sacs
That smells of fresh cut grass and juniper-
Wyoming sunsets burned!
Crickets sang their hearts as the sky turned orange
And mother called us in for the day.

In one particular backyard
Sat a stagnant John Deer tractor that remained
Green all year round
As it rested quietly in the shade
Of the Bellevue Alley shrubbery
No more than ten feet from the fence line.

A younger me could turn the ruins of
Once Great Machines into a dream.

This useless tractor was fully functional
In the eyes of a younger me.
Those eyes saw fearlessly a cowboy.
Buckles and leather and mouths to feed
And dried up fields desperately
Need a farmer’s touch.

A younger me could go and do great things in the shade
While the rest of the yard was green!
-How it glistened in the sunlight.

Lisa. Please watch over me!
Write it down in your memory that I-
I was a child lost in a daydream.

She would say that only boring people get bored.
So, today I’ll be plowing fields and
Corralling cattle before the dust storm.
Disintegrating are the chances for our lunch break-
There is too much work to be done and
The cattle won’t milk themselves.

Whistle Stop

by tyler stenson

It’s the end of the line
Your train rolled through the time.
Now, all your graces
And your legacies stand.
Don’t whisper softly the things
That you want loudly to be!
-Be like a wave
-Leave impressions in the sand.
Cause that whistle stop is coming strong-
And big machines are hard to stop

So I’ll leave behind use to be’s
And that horizon, we’ll leave to the dirt roads
Regret and disdain.
Every sun is going to fade
But in the morning rays
I hear a songbird singing your name

And where it stops I can’t say
But those warm summer days
Will roll by like cars on a train.
And people everywhere
Are looking back
And end up crying on their hands and knees
Because its the end of the line.

Your train rolled through the time
So I’ll say goodbye to the people you know.
Don’t whisper softly the things
That you want loudly to be!
Oh my, how your legacy glows!

And that whistle stop is coming strong-
And big machines are hard to stop.

Gravity

by tyler stenson

The reason we’re here– nailed to the ground
We could be in the atmosphere but Gravity is keeping us down.

I’m under a sky that hangs by a string.
The planets are falling down
And orbits are slowing down

But I for one believe I don’t belong in a life of looking up.
So, tie me to a bird-
I’ll touch the sun
And I will not come down for anything less than Gravity.

Ah, Heaven? It’s closed just for tonight.
There are thousands of homeless angels that can’t take flight.

They drop like a stone and solid gold.
Their feathers are crushing my bones.
This weight on my shoulders has shown me that this thing is real
And it ruins everything.

But I for one believe I don’t belong in a life of looking up.
So, tie me to a bird and I’ll touch the sun.
And I will not come down for anything less than Gravity.

Oh! I for one believe I don’t belong in a life of looking up.
So, tie me to that bird and
I’ll touch that sun
And I will not come down for anything less than Gravity.

This Gravity is taking me.
Oh, my god, please believe in me.
I will not come down, down, down.

Miles from Bed

by tyler stenson

Under the twilight and miles from bed
We drank with a heart ache to cure.
After the moonlight began to ascend
I do believe that we touched the limit for sure.

Oh, the truth came out as the beers went down
And we walked on the edge of the night
Telling our stories of Ghosts that have died
And these dime-a-dozen lovers that we can’t replace-
Never tried.

It was night, but then the sky lit up instead.
It was blue then beautiful red.
This night is mostly dead
But I am miles from bed.

These are conversations that need to be had
To know just how it feels to really be sad.
We spent the night talking like we were the best-
Always hiding the secret that my friend,
We are just like the rest and

It was night, but then the sky lit up instead.
It was blue then beautiful red.
This night is mostly dead
But I am miles from bed.

Oh, the day light has come and the moonlight is fading
Like the thousands before while we have been waiting
For someone to come down- just fall from the sky!
Sing us to sleep and stay ‘til we close our eyes cause

It was night, but then the sky lit up instead.
It was blue then the most beautiful red.
This night is mostly dead
But I am miles from bed.

Nameless Beautiful (no idea)

by tyler stenson

Beautiful eyes!
They go lovely with the shirt you’ve got on.
I am twisted in your stare!
Cause baby’s got her blue jeans on
(And she put them on herself awful tight).

Beautiful Lady!
Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Those aren’t my words-
That’s not my heart!
But you should know I feel that way.

You should know- but you have no idea.
I tried to tell you as you disappeared.
You should know this but you don’t-
We could have it all together
But you have no idea!
Like no other here before
You are a nameless beautiful.

A beautiful painting of the autumn
Does no justice for the trees,
You are above this serenade
And these words I write are cheating as we speak.

You should know- but you have no idea.
I tried to tell you as you disappeared.
You should know this but you don’t-
We could have it all together
But you have no idea!
Like no other here before

You are a nameless beautiful
And I would love to keep it all!

What I Feel Like as Winter Comes

by tyler stenson

Looks like a battle field!
The October sun has lost its appeal
And disappeared
(And that summer solstice became cigarette light)

Looks like the end of the world!
The gold leaves curl and brace for the Apocalypse
At the end of days-
When that sky turns grey and covers up neon.

What I feel like when winter comes?
I feel a need for summer!
Those days are leaving us one by one.
What I feel like when winter comes?
I’m like a secret lover whispering:
“Sunshine, can I see you again?”
And no one’s answering.

Looks like it’s here to stay!
Please go away- all you’ve brought us here is misery
And darker days.
And the sun has gone away for what feels like decades.

What I feel like when winter comes?
I feel a need for summer!
Those days are leaving us one by one.
What I feel like when winter comes?
I’m like a secret lover whispering:
“Sunshine, can I see you again?”
And no one’s answering.

All I’d give just to see you again-
Please, break through the clouds and come in!

I Might Be Gone

by tyler stenson

I might be gone by the end of this day.
When my soul retires and drifts into space
All of my life is at the mercy of grace.
Remember me time, as I float away.

I might be gone in ten thousand days
When all of my life is rocking chair grey.
I hope I go in the middle of a crowd-
They’ll remember me then!
Cause people get use to having people around.

Our memories remain through the poets and songs
That are filling the graves with history’s bones.
We all sink by the side of the afternoon light-
What can you expect?
We are mortals in time.

And in time, I might get old.
I might retire.
I might have little ones with minds I inspire.
I might get lucky and they’ll remember this song!
I hope it happens cause I might be gone.

The Sequel

by tyler stenson

Leaving you is the hardest thing a man can do.
“Will we make it ‘til the morning?” She had to refuse.
Why should we burn something down
Just because it’s gotten so cold?
Oh, leaving you is the hardest thing a man can do.

So long darling! You’re a terrible thing to waste!
But if we’re always in the middle
Then we’re never getting out of this place.
I needed change but all along
I’m just living yesterdays.
So, so long darling! You’re a terrible thing to waste!

And you better trust not to hope-
It left here a long time ago
And love always dies in August
Didn’t you know?

Leaving you is the only thing a man can do!
Forgetting you is a consequence that I’ll have to choose.
You are like a light that burns out
But leaves a stinging in your eyes
And leaving you is the hardest thing a man can do.

Turpentine

by tyler stenson

Fix yourself with crooked wings
And damn yourself for doing mortal things.
In the wake of filthy hands there is nothing pure-
My testimony stands.
So, I’ll tell the world with a crooked grin
I’ve got no more!
I’ve got no more to give!

I use to try my best ’til I stopped trying
Now, my sins are just some paint that waits to dry
Because if the King exists, his heart is like a lion
And he’ll wash it all away like turpentine.

Faith is empty promises so I’ll stick with hope
(It’s got more room to give).

Plaid

by tyler stenson

We’re so many colors and lines that crossing just right.
We are mixing to plaid cause how sad it would be to be white.
I am the river, I’m pining for something- I’m blue!
And I circled the mountain Elizabeth- I was red for you.
I like those colors; the orange and the chrome and the sky
As I am driving by.

If colors show how I feel,
I am colors mixed in a wheel.

We’re so many colors and lines that crossing just right.
Always mixing to plaid cause how sad it would be to be white.
The people they’re leaving but oh, the emotions? They stay
As shades and as colors and as vices- too many to say.
I like those colors; the orange and the chrome and the sky
As I am driving by.

If colors show how I feel,
I am colors mixed in a wheel.

Popo Agie

by tyler stenson

I can feel the Lander wind
Coming up beneath me again.

But to the north there’s billionaires
That lay between the millionaires
And their buildings stretch to touch the sky
In the bigger world on the other side of the middle
… of Popo Agie.

Running down crooked miles, I could feel the muscles tire
And I could bend my toungue and sing the words of pioneers
(they’re coming up between my teeth).
And all at once their melodies turn to fields of industry
And the California air is black
So the movie stars are moving back to the middle
… to Popo Agie

These are spaces-
Western places and
I go back there just to taste it.
To feel a warm night,
Mixed with fireflies
And I can feel the Lander wind coming up beneath me again.

Old Things

by tyler stenson

I remember living there- remember me?
Nothing fills your heart like history.
There is room for little space
And all of our hearts can be replaced
So we traded in the birch for the pine trees
And the evergreens.

New things always shine but
They don’t make them anymore like the old things.

I remember loving you- remember me?
Nothing fills your heart like history.
There is room for little space
And all of our hearts can be replaced
But she will always be so close to me.

New things always shine but
They don’t make them anymore like the old things.
What is new was never mine
So I feel nothing really shines like the old things.

Cellophane

by tyler stenson

From the tops of mountains
We collide with clouds above the sea
And down below they disappear
(But I’m not convinced they were ever here)
Cause the water looked like cellophane reflecting stars back into space
-Your eyes look that way to me.

Where we are the hills are green
And elegant as anything we’ve seen
And Pontius and Pilatus lay beneath the waves
Of their water graves and
The water looked like cellophane reflecting stars back into space
-Your eyes look that way to me.

So, where we are the hills are green
But the white in your eyes is all I see
And it seems the world’s a perfect sphere and
That all things beautiful are gathered here.
The water looked like Cellophane reflecting stars back into space
And your eyes look that way to me.

Ah, look there, see that gleam?
It’s the sun and your eyes the beam.
All out beams light up your face.
All I see is all your lace.

Big Hearts

by tyler stenson

Heaven knows I’d wait to feel another breeze.
To lay beneath another sun.
Germany here I come.

Big hearts are filling up the hemispheres.
Big hearts are warming up the coldest years.
They’ll lay beside me forever more
Cause big hearts make mine grow.

Growing everyday and softly resting miles away.
Heaven is exploding here-
It’s filling up the air.

Big hearts are filling up the hemispheres.
Big hearts are warming up the coldest years.
They’ll lay beside me forever more
Cause big hearts make mine grow.
Big Hearts are full moons and Northern lights
They come full circle to defy science.
Big Hearts are freight trains that push me along.
They come and go and slow for no one.
Big Hearts are factories of Godlight Beams
That just get brighter as the daylight recedes.

Feeling the Sun

by tyler stenson

How am I suppose to love you
When I never even thought of myself that way?
These are hard times-
Thank you for your patience.

But if you smile at me any longer
I don’t think I’ll have the nerve to turn away
Cause it’s been so damn long
Since something beautiful this way come.

I have been feeling the sun
Warm on my shoulders it comes
I must believe that we’ve found a hole in the clouds…
Feel it now?

Collecting little pieces of fact
And I’m writing my guesses down-
No answers…
Just theories we entertain

So tell me why every time you come around
Something’s got me feeling half as gray,
With twice the light
And seven times a sun ray.

I have been feeling the sun
Warm on my shoulders it comes
I must believe that we’ve found a hole in the clouds…
Feel it now?

Separate Things

by tyler stenson

The trees have gone
But they’ve graciously left the leaves
In piles on the ground.
These are the coldest days in Eugene
That I have ever found
But still I feel fine…

Cause I found the sun still shines without you here
(Though it’s missing the brightest piece).
Usually, there is something in silence that I fear
But I don’t miss you in the least-
In fact I feel fine and it might be just what I need.

She came to talk about love.
She came to talk about this want
To combine one last time
Before we melt into separate things

All this dissonance
Detracts from the beauty in life
So, I’ll try to write a silver lined song
With a melody that’s nice
Just to make me feel fine and believe
This might be just what I need.

She came to talk about love.
She came to talk about this want
To combine one last time
Before we melt into separate things

Believe me.
Believe me, I’m trusting my head
Cause to live be the Heart is to die and
She came to talk about love!
She came to talk about this want to combine
One last time…

Spinning Me

by tyler stenson

Looking in the air- all the world is circled
By a night that is beautiful with the stars against the purple.
If I am the ocean, you are the moon
And my waves are just the gravity turning me
Cause the moon is spinning me.

All my coins have tumbled down the wishing wells and
All my plans have worked out just as well as broken Carousels.
I tried to fly and find you.
I was following your lead.
Now I’m caught up in a tail spin
‘Cause the spiral that you lead is spinning me.

You have it over me.
You have been spinning me
Until I don’t know what’s the front and what’s the back.

Put me in my place!
Make sure that I can’t move because
I have found that all the brightest things are dim compared to you
And I am tired of spinning!
Oh, I am spinning
Cause you laugh at everything and you can’t help that
Your smile is spinning me.

Until I don’t know what’s the front and what’s the back.
Until I don’t know what’s the front and what’s the back.
Until I don’t know what’s the back and what’s the front.

Getting Old

by tyler stenson

I forgot the days
Of the careless running ’round
And I’m feeling older now,
With each sun that goes down.
Bring back the days when our hearts were bold
Cause now it seems (these days)
We are getting old.

We are getting old
But we ain’t half way yet-
We’ve got good days left
Before we’re truly getting old.

Sorry Darlin’ there is a whole world to burn
(Look to the West you might see it in the sky).
Last I saw her eyes had turned cold
And last I kissed her lip we were getting old.

We are getting old
But we ain’t half way yet-
We’ve got good days left
Before we’re truly getting old.

Bring back the days when our hearts were bold
Cause now it seems, these days, we are getting old.

Carry On

by tyler stenson

Now that you’re here, I can actually feel
The world spin beneath my feet.
Girl, if you believe in love…
Why don’t you believe in me?

You came into town like you’re not slowing down
And I’ll have to find a safe place for my heart-
Because I believe when someday comes
That someday will break us apart
And I’ll just carry on.

There in the bar you lit like a spark
But your smile will always burn like a flame.
You burned all the way through the midnight hour
And now all the sweetest ashes remain.
And I’ll have to carry on.

Feathers and snow and miles of road
Are laid out as far as eye can see.
I just can’t help but think: If you believe in love
Why won’t you believe in me

Paper Plane

by tyler stenson

Fold me up like a paper plane
That you never want to come back.
She believes in something unfortunate-
I believe in that.

Ruin me like a paper plane
That somehow refuses to fly.
All my wings are bent and I’m broken and I’ll
Never make it to the other side.

Forgive me but I’m the only paper plane I know
And it’s hard not to let it show
So I’m trying to get up the nerve to leave
Cause my apartment won’t let me sleep.
It’s breaking down like you and me
And it’s hurting everywhere I bleed
And my heart aches inside of me
And it’s hard not to let is show
But I’m the only paper plane I know.

Better Be Us All

by tyler stenson

An interesting man I know has the music in his bones.
He writes the songs but he can’t stand rock n roll.
His name is on His right hand
As he hides behind a wall.
Somebody’s gonna make it but you know it better be us all.

Older brother-
He’s the dreamer of some dreams
So he stretched out the gray and made it green.
I can see myself in him
(I’m just a little bit too small)-
Somebody’s gonna make it but you know it better be us all.

Oh, little brother, you are not the only one-
Just don’t get burned in the Oklahoma sun.
You are trying to get to heaven and
I’m just trying not to fall and
Somebody’s gonna make it but you know it better be us all.

I’m a music maker trying to make a dream
But getting there is as endless as it seems
So I’m gone to California even if I have to crawl
Because somebody’s gonna make it but you know it better be us all.

Ghost

by tyler stenson

Why do you feel amazing to me?
Addictive drug I took you-
At seventeen I took you
But you wouldn’t take me.
You were too young for love
So just like an angel she comes to me but
Haunting me because

She’s a ghost, she’s no angel.
In my head- from my head she needs to be gone!
She’s a ghost she’s no angel
But that keeps her satisfied;
That it keeps me awake at night.

So, why do you feel amazing to me?
How did you find me here?
Wasn’t I sleeping here?
I need you to leave me
Because I want you to stay-
Everyone knows a ghost can’t love
And angels are gone from this place.

She’s a ghost, she’s no angel.
In my head- from my head she needs to be gone!
She’s a ghost she’s no angel
But that keeps her satisfied;
That it keeps me awake at night.

She could chose to pass right through me but
Oh, my god, she just keeps haunting me because

She’s a ghost, she’s no angel.
In my head- from my head she needs to be gone!
She’s a ghost she’s no angel and
Now I’m all alone and I am less than satisfied!
Seven years? This could break me…
Seven years and I can’t forget that face
(though I’ve tried).
She’s a ghost, she’s no angel
But that keeps her satisfied;
That it keeps me awake at night.

Rome Tomorrow

by tyler stenson

She’s descending, this time into June,
I tell her just be you cause
Angel you blend in with the sky.

She keeps me waiting until mid July-
We say our last goodbye.
I’m waiting while I fade with the sun.
I’m waiting for you.

I will be searching Siena today- Rome tomorrow.
It’s a lifetime to wait.
I’m keeping the pain of the life I killed
And I’m judging our lives from a window sill.

The changing leaves and off colored greens make me change colors too.
A sunset in December alone-
Are you coming home?

She’s been dreaming little basic things.
God she’s everything
And angel you belong in the sky.
With star lighted eyes.

I will be searching Siena today- Rome tomorrow.
It’s a lifetime to wait.
I’m keeping the pain of the life I killed
And I’m judging our lives from a window sill.

Write a letter to me everyday
And in the usual way tell me everything will be alright.
I keep saying I know it’s just love
But it’s something I need and it’s breaking me up.

Radiate

by tyler stenson

She took back the sunlight that she gave
And disappeared down the loneliest highway.
I am resting low on this day because
Somewhere where I’m not she radiates
And I don’t mind.

In the night this light is about to burst
And all the good lines get lost in the verse.
I am just a subtle glow on this day because
Somewhere where I’m not she radiates
And I don’t mind.

I don’t mind.
I don’t mind.

All my days are slowly fading gray
Cause somewhere where I’m not she radiates.

Clementine

by tyler stenson

Far away, out East,
By Carolina and sea
All our days gather here
And they’re counting down as we speak.

They may come wave on wave-
Bat them down Clementine.
Your days are yours,
Mine are mine,
Bye and bye Clementine.

A battle hymn for the days-
Stock up on Bravery and Grace
Because the heart’s not a bone
Protect it well,
It’s a long road to heal
Once it breaks.

Fingertip

by tyler stenson

It’s my fingertip confession
That I’m too tired to play.
I was thinking of you
And how you slowly went away.

Though gone, no less impressive
But all too much the same-
I was thinking of you
And how you slowly went away.

So how does it feel my love?
How does it feel to be on my mind?

So my fingertip confessions
Will always stay the same
-I’ll be thinking of you
-I’ll be singing for you
Until song goes away.

Where There’s a Will…

by tyler stenson

I can see it in her eyes
That she is coming around the bend
So my heart is giving pieces and
It’ll give until there’s nothing left.

Every time it rains
It’s just my confidence wearing thin
And calling out to forces
That will put us back together again.

This I believe-
But I could be wrong.

There is energy in
Filling in the spaces she left undone
And holding on to something
When I should have took the money and run.

Now every time I sing
It’s just the loneliness setting in
And calling out to forces
Come and put us back together again!

This I believe
But I could be wrong.

Come Around

by tyler stenson

I hope some day,
In a better time and place,
That someone in your life
Will lift you up.

I hope someday,
In the sunlight’s softest rays,
That you will glide your way
Back through this town
And I hope someday you come around.

I hope some day,
On this side of the waves,
That you will say
This is the perfect place.

And I hope some day,
Before you fully go away
That you can find some
Patience in the Proud
And I hope someday you come around.

Cause everywhere I go
I know I’ve been going about it all wrong.
It’s in the palm of her hand.
It’s the promise land.
And everywhere I stand
It feels like the sunlight
Is falling down on another.

I hope, someday
You’ll slow down enough to say,
You’re all I think about.
Cause you’re all I think about!

I hope, someday
By some amazing grace that
All this time spent spinning will slow down-
I hope someday you come around.

As of Late

by tyler stenson

I’ve got little things-
They’re all little tendencies
That keep me behind.

I’ve got memories.
All the pieces that make up me-
Distant memories, and
Lately I dream I’m on fire.

She’s seen everything,
All the times when I’m drunk and rambling.
She’s seen the worst part of me
That I would take back if I could
(just to make her feel good again)
But lately I dream I’m on fire,
Drowning with tears that I cry.

I don’t tell anyone, but I cry.
Please, take me home to a sunnier sky and
Home where I lay down goodnight.

Too Strong

by tyler stenson

We’re waking up, but man,
We’re drawing lines.
Everybody is here to put you down-
I’m only here to treat you right this time.
Around here, we sit,
Counting down one-by-one
To the end of everything-
Everything’s gone wrong

But I guess I came on too strong.
Now, the situation has awkwardly progressed for too long
Until there is nothing between the end
And where we all began.

Be my friend?
‘Cause the last one came and she went
To the left side of the moon.
(to get as far away from you as one could be
But still not be too far away)
So when are you coming home sweet Darlin?
Please, come home and don’t wait too long

Just because I came on too strong
Until the situation has awkwardly progressed for too long
Until there was nothing between the end
And where we all began.

Choose your road,
But you’ve got to leave late at night
Cause I don’t want to see you…
No, I don’t want to see you gone

Just because I came on too strong
Until the situation has awkwardly progressed for too long
Until there was nothing between the end
And where we all began.

Twelve Month Love

by tyler stenson

Everybody knows you’re gone
But me.
I chose to wait and see for myself.
So, I’ve got a picture up of you and me
But we can blow it up into
A two-by-three foot memory
And pin it on the wall.

I love the look of me in love with you
And you, feeling the same way too.

We haven’t spoken in so long
And day-by-day it keeps dragging me on
(And on and on it will go)
Because in seven days you’ll be coming home-
As if nothing has changed at all!
But nothing has changed at all

Cause I still love the look of me in love with you
And you, feeling the same way too and
I love the look of you in love with me
And me, decidedly agreed.

Suddenly Afternoon

by tyler stenson

Rain comes pouring down
Like feeling from a gutter.
The cold is coming from the window-
There’s something about that town
When the sun shines bright
And morning is gone to conversation
And it’s suddenly afternoon.

With silence she fills this room
And leaves no room for worry.
And along with the day
She comes and she goes
But it’s the thing she said an hour ago.
She said wake up babe.
She called this day a waste.

But we are wasting time alone
When she comes and she goes away.

You’ve got sleep in both of your eyes
So run back to your dreaming.

But we are wasting time alone
When she comes and she goes.
I’ve been thinking she needs
To be by herself-
With nobody else
(When she comes and she goes away).

Everybody and Change

by tyler stenson

It’s not right.
It’s not fair that none of us
Are anywhere we use to be,
This time last year.
Back when the rain cut into summer
And it kept us home from the little games we played.
It’s the reason that you’re leaving
…and staying away.

So you wrap her up in her sunshine dress
And you watch the weather change.
She might call you back
(Just to keep in touch
And ask about the rain that’s coming down).

Up she goes but
She’ll be coming down again.
I never open up
Because everything good ends.
We’re all changing.

He calls himself a cowboy
And rescues all the pretty girls.
He stops to ask direction but
Slowly he twirls around himself
And further away from home he goes.
You can tell him I miss him
But I’m sure it’s something
He already knows.

Up he goes but
She’ll be coming down again.
I never open up
Because everything good ends.
We’re all changing.

Welcome, did you notice something different here?
Did you notice something missing here?

We’re all changing.
All the days and the nights
When we’re thinking about
How the summers become so cold-
We’re all thinking I might be changing.

These Days

by tyler stenson

She saw two angels without wings.
She said I’m so scared, I’m not concerned with
All the little things that make up illusions
And stir up emotions
That keep me drowning in this ocean.

And she’ll tell you that things change.
But people never change-
They’re always going to stay the same-
They’re always Which god?
Who’s Right?
Did you pray you’ll make it tonight?
Are you heaven bound these days?

Stars keep falling from the sky.
But I’m a star now
So when is it my turn to fall?

She keeps smiling as it rains.
She hangs her head.
She holds her hands.
She looks at me and says
I don’t feel any pain.
I don’t feel anything.

She stares at me and plays a chord
(All intensions meant to be ignored)
But she’s got intensions.
I hate intensions-
But she says: without intension,
You’ve got no place to start.

I’ve got no place to go these days.

A Song About A River

by tyler stenson

If you had a heart, I might say you were the one
And it’s been worth the battle spread across the year.
Since that’s not the case, I am going over numbers
And calculating how to end The War.
I won’t try to push that River anymore.

I remember it was sunset out by the Hidden Cove
And I could see that there was leaving in your eyes.
When I said: When I say I love you, I mean it to the bone.
I could see that you were looking for a door
So I won’t try to push that River anymore.

I know that I could walk away; try to make you chase me
And be another project for your love-
But I know just how my heart feels
So I will not lie to appease you-
Ask yourself, am I really such a bore?
I won’t try to push that River anymore.

When you mistook my patience for weakness,
You made it clear that you don’t know the man I am-
Because anyone could leave you
But it takes a special someone to be with you
And weather your storms-
But I won’t try to push that River anymore.

So, when I say I love you,
I mean it to the bone
(But that’s not something I need to say again).
You wrote If he doesn’t come back,
He was never really yours

So I hope someday you hear me knocking at your door
And I don’t have to push that River anymore.

I won’t try to push that River anymore.

Wyoming

by tyler stenson

The world started to run
With the turning of the sun.
Cities rose from towns
And quiet turned to sound.
One place stayed the same;
Wyoming

So, the legends say
That explorers tried to explain-
But the beauty that they found
Was too much to write down.
So, in fiction,
They believed to be Wyoming.

Clearest sunny days
Quickly turn to rain
But in the end, the sweetest smell remains.

I know Adam’s never seen such a scene
(In neither Eden or his dream).
Even Eve would stop to stare
At God’s most perfect square.
That’s one thing I believe;
He made Wyoming.

Clearest sunny days
Quickly turn to rain
But in the end, the sweetest smell remains.

All the years hang on the wind
Above this last good plot of land.
I hear it echo in the trees.
I hear it’s whisper on my knees.
Even Dust can be a king
In Wyoming.
